Greeting and salutations human, I am pleased to say that last week’s knowledge builder was correct for around 18 hours. Honestly, that was 18 hours more than I was expecting it to be after last weeks news frenzy on the leadership of OpenAI. To cut a long story short… On Friday the board got rid of the CEO, but by Wednesday morning he was back!

  • US, Britain, other countries ink agreement to make AI 'secure by design'  In what will no doubt provide everyone with a sigh of relief that our AI overlords are not here just yet, 18 countries have come to a non-binding agreement around AI and safety.

  • Claude 2.1 is here  The LMM behind Claude has been given an upgrade. The main benefits are that prompts can be even longer, and the number of ‘hallucinations’ has decreased by 2x.

  1. Foundation level: Step-by-Step Directions → Our words are transient. Once spoken, they are gone forever. Step-by-step guides are a useful tool to support learners practicing procedural knowledge and scaffold your instructions so pupils do not have to hold it all in their heads. Use in Bing Co-Pilot.

    The deep structure is simple: You are a [subject] teacher. Write step-by-step directions for [detail of your step-by-step guide].

You are a maths teacher. Write step-by-step directions for solving 2 by 2 digit multiplication using the grid method.
  1. Expert Level: YouTube Questions→ Google’s Bard can now ‘watch’ YouTube Videos. This means that you can throw a YouTube link into Bard’s user interface and tell it to come up with some questions about that specific video. This is ideal to make sure kids pay attention to videos and do not use it as a time to switch off. You will need to enable the YouTube extension for this to work. The prompt I used was:

Create 10 multiple choice questions from this YouTube video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AArne-wh_Uc

Create two different versions of the quiz. One for teachers and one for students. The student copy should just have the questions, but the teacher version should have the answers highlighted and the timestamp for each question as it appears in the video.
